At 5'5", you may find them a BIT tall, but it is really pending on the model/the bike. I am 6 foot, and when standing at a stop, I find honda XR650's absolutely towering (I tippy toe), but the Suzuki DR650 has me flat footed, with a slightly bent knee. (much lower seat and overall height). I haven't sat on the WR's yet, so I can't comment.
